For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. – 2 Corinthians 10:4

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a strategy is a careful plan or method. It is the art of devising or employing plans towards a goal. At some point in our lives, we have all created some sort of strategy for some area in our life in which we sought to achieve a specific goal. Some common types of strategies that we employ in our lives are: educational strategy, financial strategy, military strategy, business strategy, organizational strategy, spiritual strategy, and political strategy to name a few. The most important type of strategy one should employ in order to be successful in every area of their life is a spiritual strategy.

A spiritual strategy is so important when is comes to building a relationship with Yahweh as well as growing in His word. Most importantly, effective spiritual warfare weapons requires an effective spiritual strategy. A good spiritual foundation is necessary in order to wage successful spiritual warfare. How does one create an effective spiritual strategy in order to achieve progress and success in their walk with Yahweh while encountering spiritual warfare? First, we must go to the source of our understanding and guidance that is Yahweh. Yahweh, Himself, will give His people the tools required in order devise a strategy spiritual that can be used to grow spiritually, successfully wage warfare against the enemy, and achieve successful in every area of their life.

The Old Testament is filled with examples of divinely-inspired strategies. Consider the case of Joshua and the children of Israel as they stood before the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-27). What strategy did the Lord give them? In the Battle of Jericho, Yahweh provided the people with specific spiritual/military strategy in order to defeat the enemy. They were to walk around the walls of Jericho once a day for six days and seven times on the seventh day. Then after the seventh time around the wall on the last day, they were to blow trumpets made of rams’ horns. None of this sounded “reasonable” to the natural mind, but the effects of that God-given strategy are still renowned today! They trusted Yahweh and obeyed His instructions. Obedience is definitely a key aspect in which one must adhere to when devising and following a spiritual strategy given to them by Yahweh. There may be times when we might be called to revise our plans for the sake of our spiritual growth as well as overall success. The walk will not be easy. However, we must be willing to invest time in ourselves as well as be consistent. Far too often, many people find ourselves back at square one with a plan or completely abandoning the plan all together. Achieving a goal is going to require time, effort, and sacrifice. It will not happen on its own. Depend on God to be your source of strength and guidance. Rome wasn’t built in a day, therefore, achieving your goal(s) will take time.

If you do not have a spiritual strategy, then now is the time to devise a plan to help you grow spiritually in your walk with Yahweh as well as in His word. Start by investing time in yourself. Many of us may find it difficult to develop an effective spiritual strategy because the time required to do so. I would suggest craving out 20 to minutes a day to work on your plan. Next, identify your strengths and weaknesses. This will give you an idea of what areas you need to work on in your life, particularly, your spiritual struggles. Then, make a list of the spiritual goals you seek to achieve as part of your strategy. For me, one of my spiritual goals is reading at least 2-3 chapters a day in the Bible. Obviously, I would like to read the complete Bible. However, understanding the Bible is more important than finishing. What purpose does it serve to have read the Bible but not understand the messages within it? Make sure your goals are attainable.

Yahweh is ready to give you the battle plan you need to have victory in your life. Are you willing to spend the time in prayer that is required for you to receive that plan? An effective spiritual strategy will definitely help to obtain both blessings and victory in your life. Yahweh will not give you anything that will hurt you or set you back. Trust in Him and lean on Him for understanding and guidance.
